“We are the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it.”

President Obama

Most of us are more or less in denial.

The secrets of 'The Climate Paradox', brought to you by the Norwegian Climate Psychologist Per Espen Stoknes: People know more than ever before about global warming, the science is clear, and yet a large percentage of us do not act on what we know.

Denial:

Intellectual: You reject that climate change is happening and that it´s man-made..

Emotional: You accept climate change being real and man-made, but the acceptance stays in your head. It doesn´t affect you emotionally, does not fill your body, does not reach your stomach and your heart.

Political: You recognize climate change, you are strongly affected emotionally by it, but that does not lead you to become politically active.

The purpose of this site is to help you get out of denial, meaning:

Start gathering information actively.

Use your heart and stomach to feel the consequences of Climate Change.

And become active in the climate battle.

what are you passionate about?

Many of us burn for something. Often centered in the here and now: Family, economy, education, job, spare time interest, the organization we belong to or some political, spiritual or altruistic involvement.

Also, we try to make strategies and plans for the future. Trying to pave the way to reach our goals.

But how wide and how far is our vision? And how is the visibility? Most of us only register what´s near us in time and space, and we believe the future pretty much will look like a continuation of the immediate past.

This may very well turn out to be wrong. Some very significant organizations, institutions and scientists with deep knowledge of the current global trends are telling us, that we in the near future will be forced to change our plans dramatically.

If the track we are on is blocked, we will have to find another before it´s too late.

What if our future becomes totally different from what we expect?

So maybe now is the time to get passionate about the Climate?

As you can see on the 'Challenges' page, the effects of climate change are already here, and coming much faster than scientific models have predicted.

There are many good reasons to get involved now. Everyone can do much more than they do. And apathy, and non-involvement are the main reasons if we fail in saving civilization.

Basically we can do things on 3 levels:

Reduce our own carbon footprint.
Educating ourselves and others.
Preparing local communities for transition.

But most importantly:

Get involved politically forcing decision makers to take the necessary steps to stop global warming.

Going from words to action.
Join a global climate movement.

Mobilization everywhere:

All over the planet people, groups and organizations are mobilizing. Here you see a few examples, and with a bit of Google search you will find many more. Find a group you like, join it, or start your own initiative.
